Panel Discussion: Challenges in Career Management
Join Mary Patrick of Modis, Lori Baumann of Object Information Services, Rick Krostag of Triad Resources, and Michael Ahern of TEKsystems as they discuss the challenges we all face in managing our careers. Hear their views and insights as they answer your questions relating to achieving career goals, organizing and conducting job searches, staffing differences between the agile and traditional worlds, and much more.

Mary Patrick, Business Development Manager at Modis
As a Senior Business Development Manager, Mary has over 25 years of experience
the IT Consulting industry working in both Business Development and
Recruiting. She has also served as a consultant for non-profit
organizations providing coaching and mentoring in the area of Career
Management, Resume Writing, Interviewing Skills and Behavioral
Interviewing from both an interviewer and interviewee perspective. Mary
has spent her career helping clients and candidates positioning
themselves and their organizations for hiring and career development.
Early in 2004, Mary joined Modis and currently works with a number of
large and middle market clients in the Houston area. Prior to joining
Modis, Mary worked for companies in the IT consulting industry like Cap Gemini, Robert Half and AiC (Analysts International Corporation).
Lori Baumann, Recruiting/Account Manager at Object Information Services
Lori has over 12 years of experience in Recruiting and Business
Development in consulting organizations. She spent 7 years working
with RCG IT, a International IT consultancy, as both Account/Recruiting Executive.
While at RCG IT she was named the Recruiting Executive of the year in
2000 out of 25 of her peers. In 2004, Lori joined Valtech Technologies
Inc., a boutique consulting firm focused on Agile transformation and
software development. As a Corporate Recruiter, she highly enjoyed her
input into the hiring process and helping them build their
collaborative teams. In late 2008, Lori joined a promising start-up
staffing firm, Object Information Services, Inc.(OIS) based near
Dallas. She currently enjoys developing client relationships, working
with candidates and the on-going challenges a young company provides.
With OIS, Lori loves working both in Houston & Dallas and with the great talent in Texas!
Rick Krostag, Director of Sales at Triad Resources
Rick Krostag has more than fourteen years of experience in IT staffing. He currently manages a team, as the Director of Client Development, that is responsible for all new business development at Triad Resources. This includes working directly with hiring managers at many of Houston's leading Energy and Financial companies. Previously, he managed three regional offices for Pencom Systems in Los Angeles, Chicago and Austin. Over his career, Rick has worked directly with the founders of then high-profile startup companies like GeoCities, NetZero and CitySearch to build out their technical teams as well as leaders from the fortune 50. Rick received his BBA in Finance from the University of Texas at Austin in 1994.
Michael Ahern, Services Account Manager at TEKsystems
After attending Boston University, Michael started his technology career working for Stream International, a Microsoft Outsourcer. Michael was then employed by Salinas Group, a Manhattan-based consulting organization in the role of Managing Consultant. There he worked on several assignments implementing and migrating messaging and directory products across the US and UK. Michael started with TEKsystems in 1998 holding several roles including Manager of Technical Services, Program Manager, Regional Sales Engineer and Business Development Manager. Currently Michael is a Services Account Manager working directly with large Houston-based clients. Michael’s most recent projects have included an end-to-end workstation refresh for a large O&G company; an OS and workstation upgrade for a Canadian gas transportation company, and a greenfield commercial system build for a new continental oil pipeline. The latter project is an agile development effort utilizing 6 concurrent streams with over 50 assigned resources.
